The Oxford School provides a UK IGCSE and A’ Level based education to 2,303 boys and girls from Foundation Stage to post-16 (three to 18 years).Children from Pakistani families represent the singe largest demographic, with children from Arab nations the second.
Our own High School, Al Warqa, is a GEMS owned and run school, serving 4,688 predominantly Indian boys aged 5-19 (KG to Grade 12). The CBSE based school currently has a rating of Good by Dubai’s education regulator, the KHDA, a level of education it has maintained for the last four out of five years.

Al Twar located Star International School is one of a very select few schools to have improved its KHDA rating in the 2014 period, moving up to a Good rating from Acceptable.
Located very much in new Dubai in the Greens, Regent International School is a private K12 school taking students, both girls and boys, from 3 to 18 years of age. Just over 1345 pupils currently attend the school, from over 70 nationalities. British is the largest single nationality, with a mere 1% Emirati students.
The Iranian School in Dubai is one of the oldest schools in the country, planning for the school beginning as early as 1957/8.
Both the boys (with 850 students) and the girls (with 296 students) sections of the Towheed Iranian School received their first KHDA inspections in May 2012. The girls section of the school has received an “Acceptable” rating for the past 3 years.
International School of Arts and Sciences Dubai is a private co-educational K-12 school located in Al Warqa, Dubai, taking students from three to 18 years of age. The school was first established in September 2007 by Academia Management Solutions International.
Gulf Indian High School (GIHS) is a private K-12 school located in Al Garhoud, Dubai. The school was first established in 1979 by Mr. John M. Thomas as founder and chairman with only 200 students and 35 teachers. The school has since grown to more than 2300 students and 125 teachers.
Grammar School Dubai has the rather dubious honour of being one of the most inspected schools by the KHDA. Unfortunately, that is not because it is doing things so well, but because it is subject to re-inspection reports following Unsatisfactory ratings.
Horizon International School (formerly Star International School) is located in the heart of Al Thanya/Umm Suqeim 3 (close to the older Emirates International School). Although a relatively established school, having opened some seven years ago, Horizon International has grown significantly in student numbers in the last three years. It presently has 950 children on its register (up from 580 four years ago). The dominant nationality remains the UK (35% of students), but 51 nationalities are represented in total.
Greenwood International School (GIS) is a private K-12 school located in Muhaisnah 1, Dubai. The school first opened its doors on September 2006 and currently caters to over 990 students (up 70 on the year) – 80 percent of whom are Emirati. The remainder come from mainly British and American families. Greenwood is mixed gender up until Grade 4. Girls and boys are separated from Grade 5.
English Medium School Dubai (also referred to as English Language School) is a private K-12 school located in Oud Metha, Dubai.
The school is currently ranked Acceptable by the KHDA, Dubai’s education regulator, an encouraging move after being rated Unsatisfactory from 2009 to 2012/13.
Emirates English Speaking School is a private K-12 school, founded in 1979. The school is located in Al Safa, Dubai and currently caters to just over 1900 students (up almost 200 on the previous calendar year) with approximately 100 teachers (up significantly over the previous year), over half of which hold a relevant teach qualification according to the KHDA, Dubai’s education regulator (2011/12 report)..
Elite English School is a private K-10 school located in Deira, Dubai and currently caters to 1200 students at present, with 62 full-time teachers, most of whom have appropriate teaching qualifications. Students of Indian nationality comprised about 60 per cent of the student body, Pakistani 14 per cent and Filipino 12 per cent.
Taaleem owned Greenfield Community School (GCS) is a K-12 school located in Dubai Investment Park, Dubai. The school was established in September 2007 and offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. It is an “International Baccalaureate World Continuum School”.
A CBSE school owned and run by GEMS Education, Our Own Indian School first opened its doors in 1991, and is based in Al Quoz, Dubai. It currently has a ranking of ‘Good’ by Dubai’s education regulator, the KHDA, a rating it has held for the last four years.
A GEMS Education, CBSE and CBSE-i curriculum based school, The Millennium School, Dubai is home to 3034 (up 150 on last year) mixed gender students, aged three to 17 (KG to Grade 12). Students are currently exclusively of Indian heritage.
Dubai Scholars Private School is a private K-12 school located in Al Ghusais, Dubai, taking children from 3 to 18 years of age (KG to Grade 12). The school was established in 1976, making it one of the oldest schools in the country, and currently has just under 1600 students (a reduction on 2011/12). It employs 98 full-time teachers (up 8 on the year) giving it a mid range teacher to student ratio.
Dubai National School, Al Barsha, established in 1988, is one of two branches (the second based in Al Twar) of Dubai National School, with a total of 4200 students. In total 2,770 (a small increase over the last academic year) attend the Barsha branch, a student body made up of boys and girls, aged from 4 to 18 years of age (KG to Grade 12). Two thirds of the children are Emirati.
Dubai Modern Education School (DMES) is a private K-12 school located in Al Mizhar near Mirdiff, Dubai. The school was first established in 1996 with just over 70 students, a number that has since has grown to approximately 2500, over two thirds of which come from local, Emirati families. Thirty nationalities are represented as a whole.
Located in Al Garhoud, Dubai International School is a private school providing education for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Grade 12, aged three to 18 years. It is the sister school of Dubai International School, Nad Al Sheba.
Al Salam Private School is located in Al Nahda, Dubai. It provides education for both girls and boys, from ages 3 to 18. It currently has just over 1158 students (up 60 on the last academic year), one in five of whom are from local, Emirati families. Arab nationals as a whole make up one in two students. Pakistanis account for almost one-third of the student body.
