Nord Anglia International School

The second Nord Anglia Education school in the UAE opened in Dubai, on time, at the beginning of September 2014, following theBritish International School of Abu Dhabi (BISAD), which has been established for a number of years in the capital.

Kings School Nad Al Sheba

Kings Nad Al Sheba has come some way since its opening in September 2014. The original building now houses only the Foundation section on the ground floor with 5 FS 1 and 5 FS2 classes.

Each class now has access to the outside areas with plenty of play space and the opportunity for free-flow activity during the cooler weather. Playground equipment remains a little sparse with one large climbing/play frame, but further equipment to be installed.

Kings School Al Barsha

Having opened with approx. 650 students in September 2014, Kings Al Barsha has grown to almost 800 students of which just over 300 are in the Secondary School.

There are 64 different nationalities at the school, of whom approximately 40% are UK passport holders. The school does accept children with English as a Second Language provided other test results (CATIV) show that the child is academically able. Kings also accepts children with Special Education Needs and provides Shadow teacher support if required, though the number of places is inevitably limited.

Kent College Dubai

Gems First Point School

There have been a lot of changes at GEMS Firstpoint School since it opened in September 2014.

Firstly and most evidently, student numbers have grown significantly – from 340 to 850. The expectation is that this number will grow to approximately 1,400 students by 2016/17, especially now the school has permission to extend from FS1 to Year 12.

International Academic School

International Academic School Dubai is a private K-12 school located in Al Warqa 1, Dubai. The school was established on September 2006 as a private school for international students, catering to over 1000 students. Presently one in three students comes from the local Emirati population (2013/14) – this is a decline from 50% (2011/12). Total student numbers have remained flat.

Hartland International School

Hartland International School, Located close to the Al Khail and Al Ain roads, the school can be a little difficult to reach, but a turn off by the Quarantine stables at Nad Al Sheba before Meydan leads the way through a vast desert area to the school. Part of the Mohammed bin Rashid development and owned by Sobha, an Indian group active in the Gulf for many years, Hartland International School certainly stands out among the sand and has been surrounded by trees and greenery to good effect. The buildings are white and designed in groups of grassed quadrangles, with the front of the school featuring 3 protruding glass and steel prongs into which the Foundation, Primary and Secondary sections of the school are arranged.

Gulf Model School

Gulf Model School is a private K-12 school located in Al Muhaisnah, Dubai. The school was established in 1979 and as of 2011 caters to more than 2,500 students grouped into 82 classes with 12 at Kindergarten, 33 in the primary phase, 14 in Middle and 24 in the secondary phase.

Dubai Arabian American Private School

Dubai Arab American School is located in Al Muhaisnah, and is almost 6 years old. It has been subject to KHDA inspections since 2008-2009 when it was found to be Unsatisfactory. After five follow on inspections, the school was upgraded to Acceptable for the latest KHDA report (2011-12).

Safa Community School

Safa Community School, a sister to the established Safa School (located between Safa Park and the Al Khail Road on Meydan Street), opened on its new site near Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (opposite Motor City) in September 2014. Given that the school only received approval to commence construction in May, it has done remarkably well to open the two existing teaching blocks on-time, on what is a deceptively large plot next to the Dubailand Sales Centre. The area is being “greened” currently with hundreds of trees being planted around the entire area, including the school site.

Crescent English School

Crescent School, also known as Crescent English High School, is an Indian curriculum (CBSE) based school located in Al Qusais, Dubai. It has almost 1500 students on its register, an overwhelming majority of whom come from Indian families. The student body is currently served by just over 60 teachers.

The Sheffield Private School

Al Nahda located The Sheffield Private School provides education for 1550 boys and girls aged three to 18 years, from Foundation Stage to post-16, offering UK IGCSE, A2 and A’ Level exams. However, two-thirds of students are in the foundation and primary stage, and last a year only 29 students were in post-16 education at the school. A’ Levels had not been taken for two years. Students come largely from Pakistani, Arabic, and Indian families.

St. Mary Catholic High School Dubai

Anyone who has been in the UAE for some time will know of someone who has been educated at St. Mary’s. Practically an institution, St Mary’s, based in Oud Metha in Dubai, is home to almost 1929 students, girls and boys, aged from 5 to 19. The school is one of the oldest educational institutions in the Emirates. It was founded in 1968, and is said to be something of an anomaly in following a broadly Catholic curriculum for Religious Studies (a choice of study is allowed).

Indian International School (DSO Branch)

Indian International High School, Dubai is a private K-12 school located in Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai. It currently caters to more than 1900 students. The school is rated Acceptable by the KHDA, a ranking it has held for three years in a row. This puts it sharply at odds with its sister schools in Garhoud and Zabeel both of which have received Outstanding ratings by the KHDA. The Indian High School Dubai claims to be Dubai’s very first private school, opening its doors in 1961.

Central School Dubai

Based in Al Nahda, Dubai, Central School is a mixed school, taking children from 3 to 18 years of age. It presently has almost 3304 students on its register, following the Indian based National Council for Education and Research and Training syllabus (NCERT) until Grade 9, and then the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) examination syllabuses until Grade 12.

American International School

American International School Dubai is a private, independent institution that serves students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 (ages 3 to 18). It presently has just over 2300 students (up 100 over last year and 500 over two years) made up of over 60 nationalities, the majority of which are Arab nationals. The school has 144 teachers, and 17 teaching assistants giving it a relatively weak teacher to student ratio.

Pakistan Educational Academy

1988 saw the inauguration of the big School building, the architecture of which reflects our religion, culture and national identity. A person no lesser than the then-President, (Late) General Zia-ul-Haq inaugurated the building, who commended the School results and March Past, acknowledging the significance of facilitating the Pakistani community with a huge School building.
