Looks nice and handy for us VR users! 👍
Exiler652 - August 21, 2020 @ 12:13
I believe $50 should be fair excluding shipping. I would definitely buy one for myself, I am looking into making the actual cockpits for the flights I fly the most.
Mojje42 - August 21, 2020 @ 15:34
looks cool
been messing about with building my own version
my only tiny objection…. the safety pin should work and not just be for show
i’d like it as a feature to Safe/Unsafe the device… so like Pin out red LED Unsafe, Pin in green LED safe maybe
cost vise…. no idea as that would depend on the gear he has in the handle plus material to manufacture plus time it takes to make
David Doyle - August 23, 2020 @ 10:59
For authenticity purposes I get where you’re coming from.
Though from a practical perspective, it’s job is to be pulled so I can eject. The safety pin is unnecessary.
That or a decent middle ground is making it optional 🤷♂️
Guy Barwood - August 22, 2020 @ 14:12
What about an option of selling the electronics and metal bits as a kit with STLs and let us print and assemble it ourselves.
Pics2Flicks Dennis - August 22, 2020 @ 15:06
This should be an option with a lot of flight sim designs that are 3D printed. Many of us have a 3D printer, and there are a lot of items that support flight simming on Thingverse, etc., but almost all my projects sit incomplete for months, if not forever, because I can’t source one or more components.

You can already do this. Look up a “USB encoder” on amazon. They are about $12. They are essentially a PCB with a bunch of paired wire leads. The PCB has a USB socket that you connect to the computer and Windows will see it as a “Generic USB Joystick or gamepad”. Each of the paired wires can be wired to a switch or button or whatever kind of mechanism suits your heart. Most of them even come with a 5 pin connector to make a joystick. I use one of these with a bunch of toggle switches and big red arcade buttons as a DIY pylon selector and jettison controller for the F5 Tiger. I just cut out a thin piece of plywood and drilled holes on it and mounted the switches and wire it in back.

👍🏻 surprised someone didn’t think of this sooner…brilliant,
I would pay $75-$100. It’s supports the little guy, there is some work and materials involved.

@Rubiconnn Sure, anyone can figure out how to pull something out and trigger a button, but this guy designed a nice ejection handle system for it. I’d pay for it as well. Time is money.
Matthew Seese - August 22, 2020 @ 14:23
Do I need it.. no. Do I want it absolutely, would I buy definitely! This would make a great addition to my DCS gameplay.
dart5722010 - August 22, 2020 @ 17:31
New wife
“OMG what are you doing!”
Cap
“I swear I was just ejecting!”
Goat - August 23, 2020 @ 14:06
Pull it several times to eject
SOU6900 - August 23, 2020 @ 17:10
🤣🤣🤣
HiJinx79 - August 23, 2020 @ 17:36
something was ejected, all right… it was white, sticky and got all over everything!!!
SOU6900 - August 23, 2020 @ 18:14
@HiJinx79 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Doctor Bonez - August 22, 2020 @ 17:36
We need this! It should be about $40-50 USD but realistically probably $80-100 so the CigarBear can profit.
Kurt D - August 22, 2020 @ 17:38
Breakaway connector on the cord would be extremely helpful.. Wireless would be the bomb.
Brett Davis - August 22, 2020 @ 17:47
Take my money $60usd also I’d be willing to print parts for him to assemble to assist with manufacturing
GetOffMyyLawn - August 22, 2020 @ 20:19
I’d love to attach one to my office chair, just as a gag. make a cheap non functional version!
Dan Barrera - August 22, 2020 @ 20:39
Seems like the switch on the side could be bound to arm/disarm the ejection seat keys.
T Roe - August 22, 2020 @ 20:53
Would have to speak to HQ Home, and ensure her that it’s an ‘essential computing purchase’. Looks great.
Thoughts below;
One version with a wired USB and one that is a rechargeable wireless version (micro USB socket, for example). Those with fixed cockpits, could use the wired in their permanent set ups, those with desktop and moving chairs could have the wireless version.
Wired unit, if possible move the plug point, so it’s facing the PC, so easily pulled out if you move the chair too far or it gets caught.
Items available as built, and parts for own assembly.
SAFETY PIN. Would want it to go through the unit to stop it being moved, like the real thing. Also stops people messing about with it and breaking it.
ProjectADOC - August 22, 2020 @ 21:15
I’d buy one. 50$ without shipping.
MrUNCLESAM84 - August 22, 2020 @ 22:25
$100 to $125 with taxes and shipping included.
Randomly In accurate - August 23, 2020 @ 01:18
If I were building a Mockpit of the F18, I’d probably want one. I can see that most VR users might like it too.
But aside from the 1st 5 minutes of novelty, it seems excessive in terms of likely cost and engineering for a single function control that you’ll use every so often (or in my case, far too often). 10 out of 10 for imagination and build skills, but it’s not for me.
Davros 2501 - August 23, 2020 @ 08:51
Just the joy that CAP brings to the experience would sell it to me. £50 or so, with p and p 😊
TheQuantumPotato - August 23, 2020 @ 10:19
Something that strikes me about the design of this is the cable. I can see it being very easy to forget that there’s something plugged into your computer that’s attached to your chair, and ending up rolling back or the like and potentially pulling your computer off a desk, or even just bending the connector or damaging the USB socket. You can get magnetic breakaway cables similar in function to the ones on Xbox 360 controllers that might help with this – whether that’s something Cigar Bear supplies himself, or whether it’s just a recommendation in the instructions, it seems like it might be a smart idea to use one of those.
Capt. Wrecked - August 23, 2020 @ 12:11
“Small things make me Happy” – SuperCap, Aug 2020. For the annals of Grim Reaper history. Cool design, but as a couch surfing DCS Pilot, I’d have nowhere to rig it.
Marc Jones - August 23, 2020 @ 14:03
I’m modifying this and making it legit for the front passenger’s seat for my car. I’m sick of stocking tape
